SANTIAGO DE CUBA after SANDY
Hurricane Sandy is the eighteenth tropical cyclone of the 2012 hurricane season in the North Atlantic Ocean and the tenth to reach hurricane level. Formed from an elongated tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea, it quickly became a depression and then a tropical storm on October 22. On October 24, while heading towards Jamaica and Cuba, Sandy upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, then to a Category 2 and finally increased to a Category 3 hurricane between the two islands while causing significant damage and killing more than 60 people in the Greater Antilles1.
